If you have a youngster that adores trains, then this will surely be a popular trip. General consensus however, is that it is a bit over priced for adults and somewhat boring for all but the most avid “Thomas the Train” fans.
You’ll chug along a six-mile stretch of train track between Lahaina and Kaanapali. The train moves at a leisurely pace and provides some nice views of West Maui. During that time, the Hawaiian conductor entertains the passengers with stories and song. A highlight of the tour is when the train crosses a 325-foot curved wooden trestle whose elevation yields panoramic views of neighboring islands and the West Maui Mountains.
