and other premier underwater destinations in Maui.

Pride of Maui is the island’s largest and most stable maxi power catamaran, with plenty of room to move around. Additionally, the vessel features heated fresh water showers, two bathrooms, a glass bottom viewing area, a water slide, six water entry points, swim platforms and deeply submerged stairs that make getting in and out of the water very easy.

Pride of Maui’s morning Molokini snorkeling, while not the least expensive snorkel trip going to Molokini, it does include continental breakfast, snacks, a bbq lunch, and (for mom and dad) and open bar, making it a good value for families.

Kaanapali Beach is an award-winning, 3 mile white sand beach in West Maui. Black Rock is a large cliff-faced peninsula at the beach’s northern-most end,

typically good ocean conditions, convenience to some of the island’s top resorts, and the pristine beach make snorkeling at Black Rock one of the best free options for snorkeling on Maui.

It can get pretty crowded, so try to get over there as early in the day as possible. Mornings are definitely best for the wind/sea conditions.

The water around Black Rock starts at about 8 feet deep and gradually gets to about 25 feet or more as you head around the point. You will be mostly snorkeling over sand but following a underwater lava rock ledge. The visibility is good even in the deeper parts around the point. Keep an eye out for the turtles that frequent the overhangs along the ledge.

A lot of personal attention, an exuberant crew, and small group size with an excellent staff to customer ratio are some of the things that make Aqua Adventures stand out against all the other Maui snorkelling trips.

This editor’s first experience with Aqua Adventures was back in 2000. I was a budding web designer at the time and Aqua Adventures was one of my first clients. My daughter – then only 9 years old – wanted to try SNUBA and we decided on Aqua Adventures. I was so impressed with the crew’s level of attention! They really cared about each and every customer they had on board, and that attention hasn’t declined over the years. If anything they’re even better.

SNUBA is available to anyone aged 8 and over. Snorkeling is not limited by age. All equipment and instruction is provided.

Royal Lahaina Luau was one of the first luau shows to be offered on Maui. We’ve included them in our list of family friendly luaus for two specific reasons:

They are one of the only Maui luaus to offer a special kids buffet (chicken nugget fare) in addition to the more traditional Hawaiian food items such as Kalua Pig, Poi and Lomi Lomi Salmon. All food is served buffet style.

They have very reasonable rates, particularly for families which children under 11! As of this writing, one child 11 and under is admitted free when accompanied by a full-paying adult. The Royal Lahaina Luau is currently the only Maui luau to offer this deal. (plus, if you DO have to pay for another child, the cost is about 1/2 what other luaus charge!).
